To drive with, it feels almost identical to something like a Toyo T1R. Do not let the price fool you, it is not some cheap crappy budget which is equivalent to a remould. Nankang make lots of different models of tyre - I am sure that some of their other ranges are causing confusion. First things first, the NS2 is NOT a ditchfinder. However, saving £172 is only worth something if they are any good - I dont want to save money if it means ending up in a ditch. Compare this to something like the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 which are currently going for £82 a corner (£328 a set), and you can see the first benefit is obviously a cost saving of £172 a set!!! That is not in-significant.

I paid £39 a corner, so £156 for a full set of four. I have been using the NS2 (195/45/16) on the road, and the NS2R (192/50/15 with 120 compound) on road and track. I have been testing Nankangs for the past few months and thought I would share my thoughts. Rather than join the ditchfinder bandwagon, I thought I would give them a go.

I recommend Nankang NS-25’s to anyone, no reservations.Tyre choice is a very personal thing and can end up in an emotive discussion as everyone seems to have their personal preference, likes and dislikes - its like choosing between Apple, Android or Blackberry, some like brand x for whatever reason and others don't. If you’re on the fence on these tires, at that price, it’s an easy decision. has these exact tires at $71 apiece, which is an absolute steal for what you’re getting. Looking at the tread pattern, I’m sure they evacuate normal amounts of water on the road just fine. I encountered a light sprinkle but not enough to really form an opinion on these tires rain performance. Since these tires were only tested in late-spring, I can’t speak on how well they do in the rain. Going over bumps, these tires soaked up the worst that the Bay Area offered.

Firm yet forgiving sidewallsįor being 55 series tires, I didn’t detect any tire flex when driving around. It could be that modern cars are so well isolated from outside noises, but tire noise you hear and feel, at least, through your steering wheel. Quietįor an all-season UHP, I did not hear any tire noise at speed or when making maneuvers. Just like the highway, I had all the grip around town. This Malibu with these Nankangs however, I felt confident bombing down I-152 with these NS-25’s showing no sign of losing traction or getting squirrelly on me.Īround town, even when I gave this Malibu the beans and with all that torque down low, I could not get these tires to squeal. There was a curvy bit of road on I-152 between Gilroy and San Jose that most who commute that area know.Īnyway, in our Toyota Corolla, it’s sticking in the left lane for me as, well, it’s a Corolla. I may or may not have touched 100 MPH at one point overtaking a truck but only because I didn’t realize the speed building up so quickly as turbo engines stifle engine noises.Īt highway speeds and making maneuvers in Bay Area traffic, in warm weather, these tires had all the grip someone driving a Malibu needs.
